This paper presents the results of an archaeoastronomical study of the Iberian Iron Age cave-sanctuary of Cueva Santa del Cabriel, near the town of Mira in the province of Cuenca, Castilla-La Mancha, central Spain, together with a review of the latest archaeological and ethnographical data about the site. We found that the cave's 12 m-long access corridor is oriented precisely along the summer solstice sunset, so that the north wall of the main gallery is partially illuminated by sunlight at this time. Organocatalytic enantioselective Strecker reaction with seven-membered cyclic imines

[EN] A highly enantioselective Strecker reaction with dibenzo[b,f][1,4]oxazepines has been described using a dihydroquinine-derived thiourea as organocatalyst. The reaction affords chiral 10,11-dihydrodibenzo[b,f][1,4] oxazepine 11-carbonitrile derivatives in excellent yields (up to 99%) and excellent enantioselectivities (up to 98%) under mild reaction conditions.

Changes in climate affected human societies throughout the last millennium. While European cold periods in the 17th and 18th century have been assessed in detail, earlier cold periods received much less attention due to sparse information available. New evidence from proxy archives, historical documentary sources and climate model simulations permit us to provide an interdisciplinary, systematic assessment of an exceptionally cold period in the 15th century. Explosive eruptive history of Pantelleria, Italy: Repeated caldera collapse and ignimbrite emplacement at a peralkaline volcano

A new, pre-Green Tuff (46 ka) volcanic stratigraphy is presented for the peralkaline Pantelleria Volcano, Italy. New 40Ar/39Ar and paleomagnetic data are combined with detailed field studies to develop a comprehensive stratigraphic reconstruction of the island.We find that the pre-46 ka succession is characterised by eight silicarich peralkaline (trachyte to pantellerite) ignimbrites,many ofwhich blanketed the entire island. The ignimbrites are typically welded to rheomorphic, and are commonly associated with lithic breccias and/or pumice deposits.
